I think you're one of the boldest writers I read right now. I feel there is a certain amount of courage it took to write this newsletter. Idk if that's a true statement bc maybe that courage comes naturally to you because you are a bold and brave person. In either scenario I think it is still important to applaud it. You speak boldly because you are thoughtful and well-informed. I love your fashion advice but honestly I'd read you on any topic because of your boldness, your bravery, and your thoughtfulness. Thanks for sharing your authenticity and vision in this post (and always). This was amazing to read and witness.
I’ve typed up many responses, and I haven’t found my words yet. l so here’s my first attempt:
The bravery has become easy with practice. The anxiety still almost knocks me over. However, I feel possessed with speaking my mind, and that feeling is more potent and compulsive than my anxieties.
I sent a voice note to my writing assistant, Olivia, who helped me draft this announcement to share feelings about my responsibility to produce and write what I do. When I began writing this newsletter, I was 29 and sure I had a year’s worth of clothing knowledge to impart until I began scrambling within six months of writing. Your feedback and general enthusiasm for this newsletter have compelled me to exceed what I initially envisioned for this space, and my gratitude us boundless. Your confidence compelled me to revisit Tiny Pleasures and give it the care and attention it demands. I am in the company of intelligent women; I genuinely feel that this newsletter is a product of its astute readers.
Thank you, Nicole and everyone, for your messages, comments, and every way you have tried to communicate tenderness and gratitude after this announcement! xx
Her thoughtfulness and care really sets her apart. I honestly don’t engage (for me at this time this means actually stopping to read through and come back to read again, not mindlessly scroll) with anybody else who writes or talks about fashion and style.
Finding you on IG, and then having the privilege to read your newsletters has helped me become more confident and sure of myself. And I thank you for that. Brings me joy to see you thriving.
We are so incredibly lucky for your generosity and thoughtfulness. Congratulations, Subrina - looking forward to having Tiny Pleasures in my hands when it is ready for us!
I only found your newsletter recently but I've never become a paying subscriber faster. You are so articulate and your strong sense of self has inspired me. Thank you!
