We have a white shoe problem
It's one of those letters where I tell you I hate something and then I buy it and then I love it. This letter also features many outfits from myself and from other stylish ladies I love.
Housekeeping:
Remember when I said I stopped doing interviews due to scheduling problems? Well, it’s happening again. I have rescheduled and scheduled and have had to totally scrap whole concepts this entire month which is why you haven’t received some of the letters I had originally planned on sending out. I am working hard on replacing some of these people and/or pivoting to other things I have put on the back burner so bear with me. In the meantime, I will continue sending out what I have already completed and we will sneak in the others as I complete them. While my vision was to have a theme each month, things just aren’t working out that way because I am managing my schedule and the schedule of others.
I sent out a letter a few weeks ago about joining the Geneva app to help me finish a letter I was trying to finish about shoes and I only got one submission so I’m gonna ask again. Could you please send your submissions on the Geneva app so that I can finish this newsletter about shoes by Tuesday next week? I have linked the letter here and you can find the necessary links and instructions on what to do!
I love hearing about how much you love each letter on IG. However, I would very much appreciate it more if you left your comments on the newsletters instead. It really helps me gauge interest because I definitely forget who messaged me about what on IG since I receive so many DMs there. Thank you to everyone who takes the time out to send feedback and here and on IG. The response and feedback this month has been incredible!
Today’s newsletter begins here:
In my “Sneakers” letter, I talked about hating white shoes. Every time I say I hate something, I always consider two thing (1) do I hate this item or trend because I am unable to participate? And (2) If I were able to participate, do I have the range? I hope you and I have answers to these questions by the end of this letter.
In my six years of consistently posting on IG, I have seen more bad outfits with white shoes than I would have liked. I feel like there is a universal threshold for seeing bad outfits and I exceeded it three years ago which explains the imbalance I am currently feeling in my life. This imbalance might also be due to a pandemic that is on its third year but I think I feel better blaming it on bad outfits for right now, I’ll give an update in September. I feel like, and correct me if I’m wrong, that so many people have a love affair with white shoes. I would support this love affair if they actually knew how to properly incorporate white shoes in their outfits but to my grave disgust, they do not. And so, I am perpetually perplexed (I freaking love this tongue twister I invented here) that they continue to make enthusiastically failed attempts at incorporating white shoes in their wardrobe.
While I am in the business of hating things that I have never tried or do not know much about, I thought it would be fun and a good use of this space to try out white shoes. Let me introduce you to the
