I have stalled on this newsletter for too long, and I am not so sorry. Why? Because my gut knew it would be a lot of work and tried to protect me, I ignored it, which is why you’re reading this.
Here’s how I got here:
In January, I was uploading red carpet photos to Pinterest (you have to feed that app your photos to get the suggestions you want) for a newsletter about the differences in celebrity red carpet style when I noticed that most of the actors were wearing iterations of the same thing: knitwear and evening skirts. Outside of who wore it best, I was intrigued by this, so out of curiosity, I looked up which year the photos were from, and to my surprise, 95% of them were from 1999. I immediately wanted to write about it!
That week, Jen and I were recording for the SATC podcast, so I enthusiastically told her about my findings only for her to direct me to Sharon Stone’s Oscar 1996 look, which explained the 1999 red carpet trend.
