Style Diary: Jenna Ugolini has some outfits to get you through the final days of winter and early spring
Jenna Ugolini has some outfits to get you through the rest of winter
Jenna is a stay-at-home mum and has few places to wear her clothes because she lives in a small town in southern France, but she gets dressed up for everything because it’s her way of being herself (note to self). She wears predominantly secondhand and vintage clothes, so there is nothing to tag. She reminds me to do more with less and pushes me to shop creatively.
In Jenna’s words: People ask me if we’ll ever move back to the city, and although I am lonely sometimes and without my friends, I have found that in life, you will always be unhappy if you are looking for a 100%. There is always a downside and I am content with my choices because I have decided this is perfect. Being here, surrounded by nature, going outside with my kids, and having a garden that hopefully provides food for my family is the most important thing. I know I cannot have that in the city and the stress of living there is not worth it. Right now, it’s a bit difficult, but I know it will get better, and we have started meeting some lovely people. None of them share my love for fashion, but they are such lovely people. They are farmers and teachers who are smart and down to earth. I invited my neighbor over, she admired the knits I make, and for once, I didn’t feel the slightest jealousy in her. I could share my work, she was so happy for me, and she was curious. There was so much competition when I lived in the city, and I felt disconnected.
We will be taking sheep and chickens in the house we move, and I know my clothes look out of place here, but it is what I love. I also buy clothes for when I go to the city and travel. I have practical clothes that are good for gardening, but I need the other stuff too.

The outfits
The boots are vintage that I got maybe 5 years ago. The leather coat is like butter; I’ve never had such a soft coat. I bought it at a wonderful vintage store in Paris when I was pregnant with Ziggy. I loved the khaki color and was amazed by the quality of the leather. The skirt is stretchy and I thought I could wear it while pregnant, but the fabric is heavy and uncomfortable with the heat.
Boots: vintage, skirt: Prada, black full zip cardigan: Dries Van Noten, coat: vintage, bag: vintage
